The fifth London Contemporary Music Festival will offer the world’s first major overview of American composer and performer Julius Eastman.

Presented in partnership with Thirty Three Thirty Three, the three-day series will see Apartment House and Elaine Mitchener  present rarely heard Eastman works and music by a range of his contemporaries.

Highlights include the European premieres of Eastman’s Femenine, Evil Nigger and Buddha, the UK premiere of excerpts from Arthur Russell’s Tower of Meaning, Frederic Rzewski performing his own De Profundis for voice and piano, and a new Eastman-inspired performance from artist Juliana Huxtable.

The performances will take place at Second Home Holland Park, and will be complemented by a late night event and a panel discussion on Eastman’s life and legacy. Details and booking for these additional events will be announced very soon.

The LCMF will take place on 15, 17 and 18 December. Three-day passes cost £33, while tickets for single events cost £12.
