Amazing Grace

Elaine Mitchener’s Amazing Grace | Marina Abramovic Takes Over TV |

For the course of one evening, from 9pm on Saturday 5 December 2020, Abramović took over a dramatic TV space, deep diving into the very origins of performance art and its evolution, showcasing live performance from the most diverse, exciting, emerging artists in the world. Conceptually, this was a mix of programmes and archive fronted by the artist herself, plus live and ‘as live’ performance. Abramović explored the big themes of the art form to which she has devoted her life, making connections between the human body, sculpture, film, music, fashion, advertising, dance, community, society, spirituality and even life and death.

Over five hours of durational performance and instruction included special performances by Miles Greenberg, Ana Prvački, Elaine Mitchener and Amanda Coogan as well as contributions from many more of her collaborators, including Anohni, Chris Burden, Douglas Gordon, Ed Atkins, Laurie Anderson, Lucy Beech & Edward Thomasson, Matthew Barney, Pussy Riot, Rebecca Horn and many others.
