Donaueschinger Musiktage 2020 cancelled but show must go on

The 99th edition of Donaueschinger Musiktage was scrapped at 2 days’ notice due to Covid-19. A total of 25 world premieres were planned for this year.

‘In view of the rapid development of the past few days, we had no other choice, said artistic director, Björn Gottstein. ‘It’s frustrating and incredibly painful.’

Elaine and her collaborators were already in Donaueschingen when cancellation was announced. It was decided to make the best of the situation, to go ahead with the concert and create an audio/video recording.

On Being Human as Praxis was therefore the only piece that premiered this year in Donaueschingen and we are delighted to be able to share with you the recording made for the Festival.
