Elaine Mitchener – Konnekt sounding out to La Becque

The Geneva-based association Konnekt  and La Becque | Artists’ Residence continue their fruitful collaboration and are honoured to welcome the iconic avant-garde artist Elaine Mitchener.

A British vocalist, performer, and composer of Afro-Caribbean descent, Elaine Mitchener navigates between contemporary and experimental music, free improvisation, and the visual arts. Her work spans the worlds of contemporary classical composition as well as the most radical and improvised forms of expression.

This concert resonates with Solo Throat, Mitchener’s first solo album, which draws inspiration from the works of Afro-Caribbean and African-American poets Edward Kamau Brathwaite, Aimé Césaire, Una Marson, and N. H. Pritchard, pushing the boundaries of lyrical translation and giving rise to new sonic textures.

Concert at 7pm, La Becque | Artists’ residence, free admission
Access: Ch. de la Becque 1, 1814 La Tour-de-Peilz
